If you’re a cyclist in the north, you will most likely have heard of ‘Cold Dark North’. Founded in 2015, Cold Dark North is a collaboration between two friends and passionate road cyclists in the North West of England. They seek to champion & promote the amazing places (the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Forest of Bowland) that are on our doorsteps rather than far away locations. They are a playful, positive and popular cycling brand.
As a keen cyclist myself, I jumped at the opportunity to design a jersey for them. The idea of ‘celebrating contrasts’ stayed with us – inspired by the incredible scenery, views and colours found in the North West of England.
The bright blues and greens found in the landscape informed the colour palette with a base of black and white from the existing logo.
Patterns were created, inspired by the contrasts of the environment – the land and the sky, forever changing and evolving.
